Since the second half of the twentieth century, modernist movements have reinterpreted gender concepts in the Quran with hermeneutic, historical, and linguistic approaches and have revised traditional interpretations. The concept of "multiplication" in verse 34 of Surah An-Nisa is a controversial topic that has been interpreted as a conditional educational tool in traditional interpretations (Allameh Hosseini Tehrani's Risale-i Badieh) and as a non-violent act in modernist perspectives (Amneh Wadood and Asma Barlas). Despite numerous studies, most studies have lacked a comparative analysis between traditional and modern approaches, and sources such as Risale-i Badieh with their ijtihad, mystical, and educational capacities have been less studied. This study aims to critically and comparative analyze selected perspectives from two interpretive movements and evaluate the possibility of presenting a balanced, morally-oriented, and non-violent reading of the word "multiplication" within the framework of family relations. The research method is theoretical-analytical and based on discourse analysis and The study is comparative and was conducted in a documentary and library manner. The findings show that despite methodological differences, the perspectives under study converge in avoiding domestic violence, preserving the human dignity of couples, and the corrective-educational purpose of the verse. This convergence provides a basis for a unified ethics-based framework that is consistent with traditional Shiite foundations and responds to contemporary gender justice concerns.
