This research first examined the ominous phenomenon of Westernization (as a fundamental obstacle to the progress of Islamic societies) from the perspective of Iqbal Lahori, and then outlined the Islamic model of progress and the ways to realize it in his thought, and answered these four key questions: (1) The nature and harmful consequences of Westernization; (2) The inadequacy of the modern West as a model of development; (3) The characteristics of the Islamic model of progress based on Iqbal's thought; (4) The practical mechanisms for implementing the model of progress. The findings, which were extracted by relying on the descriptive-analytical method and documentary study (Iqbal's works and related ones), showed how Westernization leads to the erosion of Islamic identity and civilizational stagnation. The shortcomings of Western modernity were also evaluated based on these factors: materialism, lack of spirituality, structural hypocrisy, and its inherent violence. In contrast, Iqbal's transformative model of Islamic progress was achieved by focusing on the following: (1) a return to the original Islamic identity (the Quran, the Prophet, and the Sharia); (2) the revival of ijtihad and an emphasis on dynamic jurisprudence; (3) agency and active effort and criticism of deterministic interpretations of religious concepts; (4) the unity of the Islamic nation; (5) reforms of the educational system as an operational strategy for implementing the Islamic model of progress, in which committed and expert Muslims should be nurtured in this transcendent educational system. Finally, the characteristics of these graduates were stated.
