This article examines and compares the views of Muhammad Abed al-Jabri and Allameh Tabataba'i on Shiite rationality. The main issue of the research is the difference between these two approaches in describing the nature and structure of Shiite rationality and a critical evaluation of al-Jabri's claim to attribute Shiite rationality to Hermeticism. In this regard, the article attempts to reveal the aspects of distinction and the strengths and weaknesses of each perspective by relying on the works of these two thinkers and using the descriptive-analytical method. The main question of the research is what is the difference between al-Jabri's and Allameh Tabataba'i's views in explaining Shiite rationality and which approach provides a more accurate representation of the intellectual reality of Shiiteism. The findings of the study show that from the perspective of Allamah Tabataba'i, Shiite rationality is based on two fundamental foundations: first, the inherent dignity of man, which is based on his intellect and divine nature and provides the basis for growth and guidance; second, the guidance of the infallible Imams, who guide rationality on its correct path and prevent man from deviations. Accordingly, Shiite rationality is not only independent of Hermetic teachings, but also has a coherent system inspired by the teachings of revelation and the Infallibles, which distinguishes it from other intellectual systems. The article finally shows that al-Jaberi's analysis of Shiite rationality, especially in its relationship with Hermeticism, lacks theoretical solidity and is incompatible with the intellectual foundations of Shiism in Allamah Tabataba'i's thought.
