A Critical Assessment of Mohammad Shahrour's View of Social pluralism
Abstract
Pluralism in the word means pluralism, which is spoken in different fields. The present study examines and criticizes social pluralism from the point of view of Muhammad Shahrour. Social pluralism is the acceptance of plurality and diversity in the domain of civil society institutions, parties, populations, and societal views. To prove his social pluralism, Shahrour cites arguments, including the reference to the verses of the Qur'an and the prophetic tradition. In this research, we have attempted to elucidate the view and arguments. In this regard, by referring to the proverbial compilations, he is referring to the pluralistic and unifying society and the characteristics of each. The reasons for his claims are then outlined, followed by his criticism of his pluralistic approach, and some drawbacks. And lastly, the author's view of social pluralism is discussed.
