The tradition and kind of perception of it are the axis of intellectual disputes of the Islamic world in general and the Arab world in particular in the past two centuries. In this article, by explaining the crisis of the Islamic world in the face of the West, we sought to introduce different approaches and their response to this crisis. Accordingly, we classify different approaches based on different kind of view to tradition, in the four liberal, Marxist, and resilient and critical groups. In the next step, we are looking at the main issue of the research. The main issue of this paper is the comparison of two thinkers from two intellectual processes. Sayyid Qutb is one of the thinkers who have come up with a revival and a return to tradition. In his view, the tradition as a whole is at the forefront of Islam as the blessing of Islamic civilization, and the exit of the crisis of the Islamic world is now also a return to that tradition. Abed al-Jabri, however, looks from a different point of view to tradition and considers the tradition as the sets of epistemic systems that constitute the whole that is formed of a set that is contained of rational and logical elements. On this basis, he considers the solution of the crisis to break the irrational elements of tradition and revive the rational and original aspects that can be found in direct relation to modernity and modern rationality.
